KLOOF CHALET

Wat ons u bied is die kans om die gewoel in die stad te verruil vir die rustigheid van die Hoëveld, om sorgloos wakker te word met die mooiste uitsig, die stilte; te gaan stap en talle verskillende veldblomme om jou waar te neem, voëls te kyk, en vir die ernstige vissermanne is daar nog steeds die “Dam Chalet” met die Floirda- en Swartbaars – alhoewel die drie damme by die nuwe “Kloof Chalet” – ook Swartbaars in het.
Vir die wat net rustig op die houtdek wil lees, ontspan, kuier, of die natuur deur ‘n verkyker wil dophou is die ervaring iets spesiaals. Die buitebraai op die dek en die kaggel binne die Chalet – is groot treffers – bring net genoeg hout saam – om dit sommer lang aande te maak!

Self-catering Guest Farm
Accommodation in Vrede, Free State, South Africa
Very privately situated on a 2000ha Bonsmara stud cattle farm, a registered conservancy, this is the ideal retreat to relax and recharge and have the perfect family outing.
Only 2,5 hours drive from Johannesburg near Vrede in the beautiful North Eastern Free Sate. It consists of 4 km of stream that runs into the perennial Kommandospruit. Abundant Yellow Fish and Trout are available in three weirs and Yellow Fish in the Kommandospruit. The area is also well known for its large variety of birdlife and beautiful scenery. A Six-bed chalet and bondage sleeping two form the complex — and a surprise awaits the visitor inside.
A lot was done to make this isolated chalet a well equipped and peaceful home from home. It is clean, spacious and the interior and exterior braai-area caters for both good and bad weather. The chalet sleeps 6 with two bathrooms and the adjacent rondavel for two persons (in total 8 persons). Bring your own bikes for biking, or walking looking at beautiful veld flowers on the farm close to the internationally renowned Seekoeivlei Wetlands near Memel.
The De Villiers’ have approximately 600 stud cows and are, apart from using their best bulls for natural mating, also doing AI and Embryo Collection. Fly-fishing at its best while the kids experience touch farming! Arthur and Anél are your hosts. A large new dam has just been completed at the chalet and offers excellent birding and fly-fishing opportunities!
Activities
Fly Fishing & Water Sports
A beautiful 7ha dam is situated in front of the chalet. It is well stocked with Florida Bass and lends itself well to water sport such as swimming, windsurfing, canoeing and kite skiing. The 4km stream with it’s 3 weirs makes for wonderful sightseeing and leads to the perennial Kommandospruit with it’s indigenous yellow fish, which is especially active from January to April.
Other Activities
The beautiful landscape is perfect for long walks and mountain biking (please bring your own bikes). The huge variety of veld flowers in the summer months (November to January) and cosmos in March/April is a real treat for the veld and flower lover. The area is well known for it’s wonderful bird life on the outstretched grasslands, wetlands and hills of the North Eastern Free State – a birdwatchers paradise.
Wing Shooting
A variety of bird species are available in the hunting season like Guineafowl, Redwing Francolin, Swainson’s Francolin, Egyptian Goose and Yellowbilled duck.

We farm with some of the best bonsmara cattle in South Africa. The modern-day Arcadia Bonsmara has its roots in the harsh and tick-infested Bushveld of North Western Transvaal.
